“The magic of music lies in the emotional affect that draws us in as we listen,” says Ian Jutsun one time, recipient of a Canadian FACTOR Songwriting music award. Ian began singing at the age of 13 in Montreal, Quebec. He has entertained audiences in over 2500 live performances throughout North America. He was a winner at the CHIN radio signing contest, performing an Italian song for the first time. In 2009, he was nominated in the Best Male Vocalist category of the Smooth Jazz awards. Also an actor, Ian has worked in TV, Theater and Film. He launched his Broadway career in an Andrew Lloyd Weber production called Bombay Dreams. This opportunity showcased Ian’s talented range of singing and acting. His Broadway performance was impressive whether it was as a featured singer (Quawali singer, Lament singer) or performing a principle role (Madan). Ian worked directly with the composer AR Rahmann during Bombay Dreams. Rahmann composed a featured song for Ian called “The Lament” which was performed during the funeral procession. The musical director of the show, Jim Abbott, once stated that, “Ian’s performance of the Lament created the most beautiful and soulful moment in the show! He strives for perfection each and every time he performs the piece”. Ian released a CD of original compositions in 2007 which had 2 songs picked up by radio “I can’t speak” and “Mr. Moonlight”. September 2013 Ian will be releasing a new project called CAKE. It will be released in four separate packages Banana, Chocolate, Red Velvet and Coconut. Ian continues to perform regularly with a multitude of bands all over North America.
